Information

EAT, PLAY, LOVE

Saint Irenaeus: “The glory of God is man fully alive.”

Reconnect with you who are and what makes you come alive. Join Claire, Erin, and a group of like-minded women to be reoriented to the person you have been created to be in Christ. Sometimes we lose the vision of who we truly are in the busy patterns of life, work, and relationships. Our focus of the weekend is to rediscover that person in a restful location, while getting a bit out of our comfort zone to play (that's right, play!), discuss, and share in the safety of a group of other women wishing the same for their lives. Most importantly, we hope to help you focus on what it means to 'come alive,' so that by the time you leave, you are on the path to a vibrant life that shines for the people in your life, work, and community.

Leaders / Organisation

A bit of info about Claire and Erin:

Claire is an Irish/English Amsterdammer who grew up in the Netherlands and spent a decade studying and working in various countries in Europe and Africa. Her initial background was in communications and psychology, and after seeking a switch to more playful work with words and people she developed as a coach. She loves the opportunity coaching provides to come alongside others, hear their stories, and be a creative part of their journey. She is passionate about enabling people to live a life of intention, embracing who they are and living and working in line with their gifts and values: the best foundation for truly loving well.

Claire comes alive out in the forest or on a windy beach, playing speed charades at a big dinner party, singing harmonies to folk songs, candles and lots of green, exploring new places, dancing, and reading a good book in a quiet corner. She lives in Amsterdam with her creative, silly, and kind husband Nate.

Erin immigrated to the Netherlands from Florida four years ago after she met her Dutch husband Frans at a wedding Tennessee. Her background is in psychology and English, and she has a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing. Some of the things that make her come alive (in no particular order): rommelmarkts, books that take you to another time and place, illuminating conversations, a dinner table set with a tablecloth and fresh flowers, bonfires at night, a day spent outdoors, and dancing to 90s hits. She also loves author Madeleine L'Engle and her quote, "I am all of the ages that I have ever been." Because of this, she can't wait to play with you. She and Frans have a two-year-old daughter, Estella, and another baby due in November.

Location

l'Abri is a family-type community where actual families live and work, while offering hospitality to visitors like us. As guests, we are welcomed to participate in the community's existing rhythms, which includes mealtimes and occasionally helping with dishes. l'Abri is not a spa or retreat center! If you have dietary needs that are very specific, consider bringing what you need along with you. Vegetarian needs can be accommodated.
